Wall of Fire!

December 14, 2006

Jeans are hard wearing trousers (or pants if you’re on the other side of the pond).  They can withstand alot: wind, rain, bumps…

My jeans are slightly frayed at the base just because they’re well worn, rather than it being a fashion statement.  The knees are fading too.

They act as a mud guard, a grime protector, a warm layer in winter, and generally a tough edge to protect my skin from the elements and any other attack!

However we each need a stronger material than jean to cover our entire body.  We need the Holy Spirit’s wall of fire around us to protect us from attack.  For we will come under attack.

The spiritual life is a battle between light and dark, however the good news is the  light has the victory and has already won… we just have to ask every day to be on the side of Light and be protected by the army of Light.

(Galatians 6v10ff – The armour of God)

p.s. For a laugh: When browsing for Christmas gifts i discovered that Armour of God pj’s for children exist!!  They come with a shield and sword and the belt of truth! Ha!

Hey Maria! Well said. There is a great spiritual armour prayer in John Eldredge’s book “Wild at Heart”. I have it printed off and use it as a book mark.

By the way, In case you missed it, I moved back over to wordpress.com from my own hosting. You can get the new link in this comment. Sorry for the confusion!

Thanks for explaining it to us on “the other side of the pond” :). Great post as always!

    Good post and illustration.

P.s Do you think maybe paul would have given a pair of those pj’s (if he had some) to his prison guard on Christmas?

  9. Well penned and so true…we need the armour each day of our life as our life can be under constant attack.
